Mikronite Technologies has reached an agreement with Black & Decker for the development of a new line of premium commercial circular saw blades. The blades will be marketed under the DeWalt name.
The MIKRONITE® process improves physical properties of high speed steel and carbide tools to increase tool life and operating performance. The results of the process on saw blades include super-smooth surface throughout the body of the blade, which provides optimal lubricity (less friction), universal stress relief, and edge prep on the teeth to optimize the operating and cutting performance. The focused high energy strain hardens and compresses the grains of metal to provide a shiny mirror finish and a rust resistant harder blade.
A polished carbide cutting edge reduces chemical reactions with acids in the wood that lead to the dulling of the blade even when not in use providing longer life. The smooth carbide surface creates more efficient cutting action and reduces energy needs.
Improving the surface of the tooth edge through the MIKRONITE® process produces a cleaner cut and less heat. This eliminates warping of the blade and burnt edges of the wood, providing a smooth burnished edge on both sides of the cut piece.
Under any circumstances, the value of a polished blade is in the lack of friction generated by contact between the blade sides and cut product. The elimination of burning by the kerf , reduces the needed clearance between the tooth and plate; offering a much more versatile tool with guide function in unregulated cuts.
